There was an increase in NADH dehydrogenase activity in the 7 % hydrogel constructs under 0g conditions (Fig. 7 A) and in the 0g control (Fig. 7 E) relative to the 1g control, suggesting enhanced oxidative phosphorylation linked to drug resistance in cancer cells [137] (see genes involved in Fig. 7 A ii).
