REN and nephrolithiasis: RAVF is linked to the exacerbation of hypertension because of the abnormal vascular connection that disrupts the normal regulation of blood pressure through the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system.4 Because RAVF presents with nonspecific symptoms that mimic other causes of hematuria and hypertension in pregnancy, the diagnosis can be difficult.5 The differential diagnosis can include nephrolithiasis, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, and urinary tract infection.6,7
