Conversely, HLA-DQA1*02:01 (37.5% vs. 10.5%, OR 5.115, p < 0.001) and HLA-DQB1*05:01 (13.5% vs. 4%, OR 3.75, p < 0.001) haplotypes were significantly more prevalent in the control group than in the patient group, suggesting these haplotypes may offer protection against T1D. Here, HLA-DQA1 is linked to type 1 diabetes mellitus.
