We also showed that overexpression of non-cleavable AtMC1 variants that carry point mutations either at the putative prodomain cleavage site (R49) or at the Ca2+ binding site does not result in severe autoimmunity (Appendix Fig. S4) in a similar manner as non-cleavable mice CASP8 does not lead to inflammation (Tummers et al, 2020).
