Some countries have adapted their normal absolute neutrophil count ranges to account for this benign genetic variation.36 Recognition of benign ethnic neutropenia has led to recalibration of absolute neutrophil count thresholds for clinical trials to promote inclusivity.37 Populations with a higher rate of benign ethnic neutropenia may have lower CA-125 levels with or without a cancer diagnosis, which may have contributed to the false-negative findings in our study.
