CRP and atherosclerosis: CRP is currently the most relevant biomarker for the assessment of residual inflammatory risk (36), and a cutoff of 2 mg/L has been adopted in several clinical trials, including CANTOS, JUPITER, RESCUE, and ZEUS (21, 33, 37, 38) to identify a subgroup of patients with ASCVD at greater risk of atheroprogression and mortality (7).
