METTL3 was first identified as an oncogenic factor in HCC due to its upregulation in HCC and subsequent increase in the methylation of the Suppressor of Cytokine Signaling 2 (SOCS2) mRNA, which is then recognized and degraded by YTH Domain‐Containing Family Protein 2 (YTHDF2) [48].
