METTL3, the most extensively studied m6A writer, has been shown to promote HCC progression by mediating m6A modifications on HIF1A mRNA, resulting in reprogramming of cellular metabolism, as well as enhanced proliferation, invasion and metastasis of liver cancer (Yang et al. 2021a; Zhang et al. 2024).
