The exact pathogenesis of SS is not fully understood but it is believed to involve a combination of immune dysregulation, hypersensitivity immune reaction, cytokine induction, and genetic susceptibility (e.g., MEFV gene mutations, 3q chromosomal abnormalities, and human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-B54) [2,5,6]. The gene discussed is MEFV; the disease is synovial sarcoma.
