PTEN and thyroid cancer: Next generation sequencing of a familial thyroid cancer gene panel (see Supplementary Table 1) revealed a heterozygous missense variant c.374A>C in exon 5 of the PTEN gene (NM_000314) resulting in the substitution of a basic lysine residue with an hydroxylic threonine residue p.(Lys125Thr) confirmed by sanger analysis (Figure 1B).
