There exists at least five DN T cell cohorts, i.e., helper DN, cytotoxic DN, innate DN, resting DN, and intermediate DN.62 DN T cells may be pro-inflammatory such as IL17-producing DN T cells63 and anti-inflammatory such as IL10-producing DN T cells.64 The roles so far reported on DN T cells in SLE are largely pro-inflammatory.
