Certainly, our study did not address the underlying pathology of worsened outcomes in the obese pediatric cohort, which would provide further and more tailored guidelines on how to treat sepsis in obese pediatric patients, but there is a report that obesity drug glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP1R) agonists may be associated with lower mortality in sepsis [48], suggesting a potential mechanism. The gene discussed is GLP1R; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
