Two other polymorphisms (i.e., rs7616006 and rs12749263) were genotyped by us in the Uzbek population, wherein, in the context of a comprehensive genome-wide association study (GWAS), the polymorphism rs7616006 within the SYN2 gene has been observed to exhibit a significant association with the incidence of diabetes mellitus, as well as with the quantitative levels of glycated hemoglobin (30). Here, SYN2 is linked to diabetes mellitus.
