In a separate study, purified L-asparaginase from F. equiseti was isolated and demonstrated significant anti-proliferative activity against various malignant cell lines, including cervical epithelioid carcinoma (HeLa), epidermoid larynx carcinoma (Hep-2), hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG-2), colorectal carcinoma (HCT-116), and breast adenocarcinoma (MCF-7), with IC50 values of 2.0, 5.0, 12.40, 8.26, and 22.8 μg/mL, respectively. The gene discussed is ASPG; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
