In their preclinical work, the group demonstrated that HER2-targeting CAR-monocytes could: (i) differentiate into CAR-Macrophages with a strong proinflammatory profile when in the presence of HER2+ tumor cells, (ii) resist subversion mediated by immunosuppressive myeloid cells, and (iii) specifically phagocytose HER2+ cells in vitro.
