Other strongly associated (but non-statistically significant) factors associated with a CRC diagnosis were age 18–40 years (OR 3.38, P = 0.160), male gender (OR 3.62, P = 0.057), CRP levels between 100 and 200 mg/L (OR 3.31, P = 0.069), and previous history of uncomplicated diverticulitis (OR 3.08, P = 0.112). The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is diverticulitis.
