Despite of the well-documented phosphorylation of MLKL, cleavage of MLKL at Asp140 in the 137-DQQD-140 (D:Asp, Q:Gln) by cysteine-aspartic specific proteases (CASP) -3/8/10 is also found to induce necroptosis in a RIPK3-independent manner from human myeloma (MM) cells [23].
