AQP4 and Alzheimer disease: Consistent with these studies, Wang and colleagues investigated the effect of blocking the dcLNs, in wild-type mice and a mouse model of AD, using surgical ligation.12They found that dcLN ligation in AD mice exhibited increased accumulation of Aβ within the brain, neuroinflammation, synaptic protein loss, impaired polarization of the key glial-cell water channel AQP4, and cognitive and behavioral deficits.
