Of the 198 consecutive outpatients with T1DM included in the study (56% men, mean age 56 years, median diabetes duration 26 years [IQR 14–39 years], mean BMI 26.0 ± 5.9 kg/m2, mean HbA1c 7.5 ± 1.2% and mean eGDR 7.1 ± 2.3 mg/kg/min), 182 patients were treated with multiple daily injections (MDI), whereas 16 were treated with continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII). This evidence concerns the gene INS and type 1 diabetes mellitus.
