Retrospective data from Michl et al. suggests that MAPK pathway mutations that enhance the activity of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway are involved in the development of lung metastasis in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC), while high expression of CD133 correlates with liver metastasis in mCRC.51 Thus, our data can be utilized in the design of future clinical trials employing comprehensive gene expression profiling in a precision medicine-based approach to treat PDAC patients. This evidence concerns the gene PROM1 and metastatic colorectal cancer.
