Osorio-Conles et al. have found that in subcutaneous adipose tissue from individuals with metabolic syndrome, mRNA levels of markers for M1 macrophages (CD80), M2 macrophages (MRC1/CD206), and total macrophages (CD68) were upregulated 3-, 1.35-, and 1.47-fold, respectively, compared to those without MetS. This evidence concerns the gene CD68 and metabolic syndrome.
