In the IPASS study [1] and other studies [2,3], first-line administration of gefitinib, the tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) for epidermal growth factor (EGFR) mutations, to late-stage epidermal growth factor (EGFR)-mutant non-small cell lung cancer patients resulted in increased progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). The gene discussed is EGF; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
