Recently, Mercado-Gomez et al. (2024) observed increased expression of hepatic glutaminase (GLS), which was associated with hepatic ammonia accumulation, in a choline-deficient, diet-induced animal model of metabolic-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), prior to any changes in urea cycle enzymes [18]. This evidence concerns the gene GLS and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
