H. popinqua does not show a decrease in TRPV1 at the interstitium level, indicating that this channel could be detecting temperature changes, preventing damage to Leydig cells and therefore an adequate synthesis of testosterone, since, in mammals, the increase in temperature generates cell death in germ cells and Leydig cells, causing male infertility [61,62]. Here, TRPV1 is linked to male infertility.
