CCL4 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis: Fibrosisis the only histological marker that has been significantly associatedwith liver failure in MASH patients.11 Nonimmunosuppressivecyclophilin inhibitors derived from the natural products Cyclosporine(CsA) or Sanglifehrin (SfA),12 have been shown to have antifibrotic effectsin the CCL4 model of liver fibrosis and in a mouse model of MASH.13,14 These findings have motivated Phase 2 MASH clinical trials of thenonimmunosuppressive cyclophilin inhibitor Rencofilstat.15
