INS and Hypoglycemia: The study carried out by Poppy et al. (18) showed that the rate of hypoglycemic events in hospitalized children using insulin reduced from 1.4 preventable events per 100 days of insulin to 0.4, a reduction of 28% after the hospital unit established multiple interventions, such as development of protocols, continuing education of professionals on insulin therapy and real-time monitoring of patients at risk of unexpected hypoglycemia.
