MARVELD2 and neurodegenerative disease: Dysfunction of TRiC is closely linked to cancer and neurodegenerative diseases (Bassiouni et al., 2016; Jin et al., 2019b).TRiC assists in folding approximately 10% of cytosolic proteins, including essential cytoskeleton proteins tubulin and actin (both of which are obligate substrates of TRiC) (Llorca et al., 2000; Llorca et al., 1999; Waldmann et al., 1995), cell cycle regulator CDC20 (Camasses et al., 2003), and the G-protein signaling-related element Gβ (Plimpton et al., 2015).
