The statistically significant reduction in the percentage of AKT protein expression in the MCF7 cells treated with NS-AZD (0.3nM) occurs due to reduced mTOR and p-Akt/mTOR expression by phosphorylation of 4EBP-1, as explained by Okuzumi et al. and Robertson et al., leading to a decrease in oestrogen receptor-mediated transcription as the primary chemotherapy strategy for breast cancer [20,47].
