The abnormal expression of metastasis‐related genes within tumor cells, such as the metastasis‐promoting genes V‐Ki‐ras2 Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog (KRAS) [2], hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) [3], met proto‐oncogene (MET) [4], methionyl aminopeptidase 2 (METAP2) [5], and the metastasis‐suppressing genes metastasis suppressor 1 (MTSS1) [6], tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 2 (TIMP2) [7], retinoblastoma 1 (Rb1) [8], and phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) [9], is key for driving or limiting tumor cell metastasis. This evidence concerns the gene TIMP2 and neoplasm.
