HSPA2 and male infertility: The Hspa2 gene is located on chromosome 14 (14q24.1) (Zhang et al., 2013), and the aberrant expression of HSPA2 in testes was shown to induce primary spermatocytes to arrest in meiosis I and undergo apoptosis, thus leading to male infertility (Bonnycastle et al., 1994; Dix et al., 1996).
