In breast cancer celllines, MCF-7 decreased the proliferation of tumorspheres while increasingthe expression of CD24 by suppression of the Gli1/Hh pathway.58 Additionally, studies on bladder cancer revealedthat solasodine (24) can suppress NRP1 expression andlead to a proapoptotic and antiproliferative effect,59 showing a different death pathway than those observed insaponins and phytosterols, particularly because they act at the geneticlevel by changing CD24 expression to favor apoptotic death processes. Here, CD24 is linked to breast cancer.
