RSPO3 is an important determinant of the peripheral adipose tissue storage capacity (Garritson and Boudina 2021; Loh et al. 2020), while SMOC1 appears to be consistently identified as a key protein in Alzheimer's disease, as multiple proteomic studies have found higher SMOC1 in brain tissue and CSF, as well as associations with amyloid pathology (Roberts et al. 2023). The gene discussed is RSPO3; the disease is early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
