Multiple linear regression analysis showed significant effects on the volume of distribution of aminoglycosides and the associated half-life in the elimination phase of the drug: higher age (P = 0.04), low serum albumin concentration (P = 0.0001), total patient weight (P = 0.0001) and the presence of pleural effusion on X-ray (P = 0.008), while total amino-glycoside clearance did not differ significantly between patients (P > 0.4). Here, ALB is linked to Pleural effusion.
