ALB and chronic kidney disease: Patients with CKD suffer from renal parenchymal cell damage, increased urinary albumin excretion, and decreased glomerular filtration rate during the course of the disease [2,3], eventually progressing to end-stage renal disease (ESRD), with a range of complications including acute left heart failure, severe hyperkalemia, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, and central nervous system disorders, which require renal replacement therapy [4,5].
