The knowledge that PSGL-1 expression is related to inflammation as well as the fact that inflammation results in CVDs makes it fundamental, therefore, to clearly understand whether an infection leading to sustained chronic inflammation, such as HIV infection, has the capacity to modulate PSGL-1 expression and potentially orchestrate the onset and development of CVDs in people living with HIV (PLWH). The gene discussed is SELPLG; the disease is HIV infectious disease.
