Research has demonstrated that the transcription factor FOXO1 enhances KLF5 transcription by binding to its promoter in cardiac myocytes isolated from patients with diabetic cardiomyopathy, thereby modulating KLF5 expression and influencing cardiac function [38], while the role of KLF5 in diabetic wound healing remains unexplored. This evidence concerns the gene FOXO1 and diabetic cardiomyopathy.
