PRKN and type 2 diabetes mellitus: Here, we observed that patients with T2D have markedly elevated PINK1 activation at the Threonine 257 (pPINK1Thr257) and Serine 228 (pPINK1Ser228) sites (Figure 5A,B), whereas ubiquitin (Ub) phosphorylation at the Serine 65 site (pUbSer65) is significantly decreased, and Parkin activation at Serine 65 (pParkinSer65) is unaltered (Figure 5A,C).
