HDGFL2 and malaria: Hawkes et al., 2014 and Boyce et al., 2017 demonstrated that the specificity of HRP2/pLDH combination RDTs for the diagnosis of clinical and severe P. falciparum malaria in high malaria transmission settings in Uganda improved from 62% to 82% and 52.1% to 89.1% respectively, when the RDT result was read as positive if both HRP2 and pLDH bands were positive (48,49).
