Recent studies have demonstrated the involvement of interleukin-17A (IL-17A) in the progression of autoimmune diseases such as ankylosing spondylitis [1] and psoriatic arthritis (PsA) [2] with anti-IL-17A treatment found to mitigate autoimmune disease progression [3] Moreover, IL-17A is also closely associated with cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis [4,5] and heart failure [6,7], and prostate cancer [8,9]. The gene discussed is IL17A; the disease is atherosclerosis.
