TNF and rheumatoid arthritis: A recent systematic review (Petit et al., 2024) failed to find significant improvement in periodontal conditions of RA patients treated with conventional synthetic DMARDs (csDMARDs) reported worse gingival inflammation associated with treatment using TNF inhibitors combined with methotrexate, and noted some improvement in the periodontal condition of patients treated with bDMARDs when the follow‐up was limited to 6 months; the same drugs had a negligible effect in longer‐term studies.
