Urinary TIMP-2*IGFBP7 proved effective for the early diagnosis of neonatal AKI in 14 indomethacin-treated very low birth weight (VLBW) infants [54] and in 31 infants after cardiac surgery in which TIMP-2*IGFBP7 values ≥ 0.78 predicted serum increase of milrinone concentration prior to serum creatinine [55]. The gene discussed is TIMP2; the disease is acute kidney injury.
