Urinary TIMP-2*IGFBP7 proved effective for the early diagnosis of neonatal AKI in 14 indomethacin-treated very low birth weight (VLBW) infants [54] and in 31 infants after cardiac surgery in which TIMP-2*IGFBP7 values ≥ 0.78 predicted serum increase of milrinone concentration prior to serum creatinine [55]. This evidence concerns the gene IGFBP7 and acute kidney injury.
