In preterm infants who developed AKI during the first week of life uNGAL in all three time-points was higher compared to preterm infants without AKI (148.5 vs. 10.0, p = 0.04; 324.0 vs. 15.75, p = 0.02; 318.0 vs. 16.0 ng/ml, p = 0.04) (Fig. 3A), while TIMP-2*IGFBP7 were not different between preterm infants with or without AKI (0.06 vs. 0.05; 0.08 vs. 0.08; 0.27 vs. 0.06 (ng/ml)2/1000, p > 0.05) (Fig. 3B). This evidence concerns the gene TIMP2 and acute kidney injury.
