Although the relationship we observed between Warburg subtyping and overall survival may be partly explained by loss of PTEN expression, associations between the Warburg‐high subtype and worse CRC‐specific survival or between the Warburg‐high subtype and poorer survival in rectal cancer patients cannot be solely attributed to PTEN loss as these associations were not observed for PTEN expression. This evidence concerns the gene PTEN and colorectal carcinoma.
