KLF5 and cancer: KLF5 is an important transcription factor that regulates various cancerous processes including proliferation, migration, stemness, and metastasis, and is highly expressed in various cancer tissues.51,52 Specifically, KLF5 has been shown to modulate fatty acid synthesis by activating the nuclear receptor PPARG in esophageal adenocarcinoma.53 Although some studies have revealed the important role of KLF5 in the regulation of lipid metabolism, whether KLF5 can regulate lipid metabolism by affecting SCD1 expression has not been reported.
