Yet another study found that brain accumulation of soluble small oligomeric species of Aβ is an early event that predates by months the classic fibrillar amyloid plaque deposition, and the amount of such oligomeric Aβ deposits showed positive correlation with GFAP-positive astrocytes in the entorhinal cortex and hippocampal CA1 (DaRocha-Souto et al., 2011).
