In our previous work, we found that necroptosis was induced by diverse chemotherapeutics when RIPK3 was present (Koo et al., 2015) and that cancer cells not only responded by inducing necroptosis, but the amount of total cell death was increased relative to cells that did not express RIPK3, suggesting that necroptosis could play a role in chemotherapy resistance in cancers via cell killing. This evidence concerns the gene RIPK3 and cancer.
