Studies indicatethat the conventional central nervous system (CNS)tumor examination, based on WHO guidelines, could not describe thebiological characteristics of gliomas and lacked the capability toestimate the clinical outcome of gliomas.15 The WHO classification of CNS tumors is defined by both histologyand molecular features such as isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH)-wildtype (IDHWT) and IDH mutant (IDHM) variants.15 These subtypes are characterized by the presenceor absence of mutations in the IDH gene. The gene discussed is IDH1; the disease is central nervous system cancer.
