These findings were further confirmed by a decrease in the expression levels of autophagy-related genes (ATG5, ATG7, Beclin1, ATG12, LC3, LAMP1 and LAMP2) and the conversion of LC3-I to LC3-II, and a concomitant increase in expression of p62/SQSTM1 in the placenta of BFII sows, which suggested that dyslipidemia due to maternal obesity may contribute to autophagy injury in pig placenta. This evidence concerns the gene ATG5 and metabolic syndrome.
