AKT1 and prostate neoplasm: Embelin, an active component of the traditional herb Embelia ribes, has been found to downregulate AR expression and decrease androgen-mediated AR phosphorylation at Ser [32], induce apoptosis in prostate cancer cells by modulating the Akt and β-catenin signaling pathways [33], as well as inhibit the growth of prostate tumors in conjunction with bicalutamide [34], and even enhance the therapeutic effects of the treatment in collaboration with radiation therapy [35].
