Recent studies identified common genetic factors (Table 1) for the development of cerebral asymmetries and disorders, such as schizophrenia or autism, like PCSK6 (proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 6) [129,132,133,134], FOXP2 (forkhead box P2 gene) [118,119,120], DRD2 (dopamine 2-receptor) [115,116,117], and LRRTM1 (leucine-rich repeat transmembrane neuronal 1) [122,123,124]. This evidence concerns the gene DRD2 and schizophrenia.
