Since APC and KRAS are the most frequently mutated driver genes in the adenoma-to-carcinoma sequence [6], they could be expected to demonstrate alterations more frequently; moreover, the MUC6 and MUC3A mutations were the most frequent, followed by KRAS mutations, principally in TAs and VAs/TVAs (Figure 4b). The gene discussed is MUC6; the disease is carcinoma.
